⛰️Altitude Safety1,700–14,505 ft
🏔️ Sequoia has one of the most extreme elevation ranges of any U.S. national park — from 1,700 ft at the Ash Mountain entrance to 14,505 ft at Mount Whitney on the park's eastern boundary, the highest point in the contiguous United States. Visitors heading to high-country trailheads (Mineral King, Whitney approaches) should acclimatize gradually, stay hydrated, and watch for symptoms of altitude sickness — headache, nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath. Descend if symptoms worsen. NPS safety info ↗

🌲Stargazing & Night SkyNot IDA-certified
Loading…
Sequoia National Park is not an IDA-certified Dark Sky Park, but it's among the darkest skies accessible from the LA and Central Valley metro areas, and it co-hosts the annual Sequoia & Kings Canyon Dark Sky Festival with neighboring Kings Canyon. High-elevation spots like Moro Rock and Panoramic Point offer minimal light pollution. Best on new-moon nights — bring a red flashlight to preserve night vision and layer up, since mountain nights get cold fast. NPS night sky info ↗
